Synapse Link and Fabric Link together

Is it possible to link both Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse from the same Dataverse environment in parallel without impacts? The current architecture is based on the configuration of Synapse Link to export data to Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2); now I need also to connect Dataverse to Fabric using the OneLake shortcuts through Fabric Link. Do you think this approach can impact on the performance of Synapse Link, considering we are working on prod environment?

Hi @diegofosso ,

Yes, you can configure both Microsoft Fabric Link and Azure Synapse Link to export data from the same Dataverse environment in parallel. Microsoft supports multiple export profiles (such as Synapse Link and Fabric Link) from Dataverse.

Considerations:

  • Performance Impact: Running both links in parallel means Dataverse will process export operations for both, which can increase resource usage and possibly affect performance, especially with large data volumes or high-frequency updates. However, Microsoft has designed these links to minimize impact on Dataverse operations, and many organizations run multiple links without significant issues.
  • Best Practices:
    • Monitor performance after enabling both links, especially in production.
    • Test in a non-prod environment first if possible.
    • Review Microsoft’s official documentation for limits and performance guidance for Synapse Link and Fabric Link.
    • Optimize the selection of tables and frequency of exports to reduce unnecessary load.
