Striped or gradient field color for shape map

Hi there,

I am working on a shape map with a custom map and facing the issue that the US should be a combination of blue and yellow, either striped or as a gradient. Is it possible do this for a single field? My issue is that the coloring can only be linked to the data, and I cannot apply any effects to the fill color. The gradient only works for the overall data, and not for a single field.

Thanks for your reply.

This sounds like a great way to solve the issue, I just need to find out how to merge the two map levels. Since Power BI does not offer that as a solution, some coding or merging of the two different JSON files will be required.

Yes, the shape map is designed this way, each shape in the shape map can only be filled with one color. If the hierarchy in the location has only country, then it can only show one color. 
Is it possible to put a hierarchy like state into the location field? This way it would be possible to set the country to two or more colors.
