I have a table visual that shows class periods and tardy values for that period. I would like to have a slicer for each class period with a dynamic total based on which class period is selected.
For Example: if a student has 3 tardies in 2nd hour and 5 tardies in 6th Hour and those two periods are selected than the total column should read 8.

@slhangen how your raw data looks like? Can you paste here, looks like it is pivoted and you need to unpivot it.
To unpivot:
- transform data
- select student column, right click -> unpivot other column
you will get two column attribute and value, attribute will contains period, rename these columns as you see fit
close and apply
now use matrix visual
- add student on rows
- attribute (or renamed) to the columns
- and the sum measure on the value
