Slicer hierarcy does not show selected value

Hi Everybody,

I've got an issue that's bothering me already for some time and to which i am unable to find a solution. I have a slicer for my projects. This slicer contains a set of grouped projects, with the specific underlying projects. This slicer is synchronized accross all report pages.

When I select a project group (see image 1) it works fine. However, when i switch to another page, it looks like there is no selection made (see image 2). When I click on the slicer, I find that the selection is still there and reapears in the slicer visual (see image 3).

Does anybody know how to solve this issue. It seems a bit harmless, this issue causes lots of confusion among my end-users.

Help is very much appreciated!

Thank you @MohamedFowzan1 @Shahid12523 @djurecicK2 for the prompt response.

This behavior is expected in the hierarchy slicer display in Power BI.

I wanted to check if you had the opportunity to review the information provided by @Shahid12523 @MohamedFowzan1 and resolve the issue..?Please let us know if you need any further assistance. We are happy to help.

In the end I decided to just create 2 seperate slicers for the two columns in the hierarchical slicer. Sync Slicers was already turned on and i already use a quite some bookmarks in my report pages, so i didn't want to incluse more.

Thanks for responding everybody it explained the issue to me, and led me to choose a viable solution!

Hi @WMart_AMS

The best option would be to verify and reset slicers using the sync slicers:

- Open the Sync Slicers pane from the View tab.

- Ensure that slicers are set to "Sync" and "Visible" on all relevant report pages.

If this doesn't work probably trying a different custom visual for the same or communicating the concern to the end users and having a reset button would be the best option.

Your slicer selection is retained across pages, but the visual doesn’t show it due to hierarchy rendering issues. To fix it:
- Use Sync Slicers to ensure consistent visibility and hierarchy level.
- Replace hierarchy with a flattened field (e.g., "Group - Project") to avoid display quirks.
- Optionally, use a bookmark button to refresh slicer visuals when switching pages.
