Simulate values one year forwards

Hello community!

I am new to PBI and am tying to "simulate" a value one year in the future from the last record avalilable. In this particular case the future salary of employees.

  • I have calculated the average yearly increase in salary, based on historical data for that employee (X%)
  • I have then managed to display a date one year ahead from the last available record

Simulated date = EDATE(MAX('Table' [Date]),12)

However - I am not able to display this information togeter with the existing salary records.

The output i would like is:

Anyone who can help with this?

@Anonymous , Assume you have two measure

[historical] and [simulated] and there are joined common date table/dimension. Then you should be able to put them together.

Can you share sample data and sample output in table format?

Input data as follows:

NameSalaryFrom Date
John225672017-06-01
John236922018-01-01
John241192018-06-01
John246262019-06-01
Bill312502017-06-01
Bill322502018-01-01
Bill329502018-06-01
Bill339002019-07-01

Desired output:

NameSimulated future salaryfrom date
John24626 * increase2020-06-01
Bill33900 * increase2020-07-01

Then display the data as shown above

@Anonymous - A little hard to follow but seems like you need a measure that displays someone's salary if historical and their calculated salary if in the future. But, hard to be more specific with the information provided.

Please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
