Show legend sort in the same direction as the stacked column

I'm sure you're tired of hearing sort questions.  I've looked a bunch, and can't find the answer to this question.

I have a set of data, with thousands of rows in 10 categories (dtype).  I created a sort column for "dtype" so it would sort in the preferred method - that works fine.

HOWEVER, the sort order of the legend goes from top to bottom; the sort order in the chart is the exact reverse:

You can see on the chart that the dark blue item is on the bottom, next up is pink, etc - the exact opposite of what we see on the legend.

Is there some way I can modify this behaviour so that the user will see the legend entry in the same visual order as the column item?

Apologies - I didn't search far enough back.  This post from 2017 has the workaround, although, it would be great to have this sort of thing handled properly, without a hack.
