I have one chart showing horizontal x axis and the other showing verticle x axis. What? Don't see a way to correct this.

I could not reproduce your issue even if I resize the chart:
Did you try to copy the common one and paste it to create a new one? Will this problem still exist?
In addition, please check you Power BI version.( It's always suggested to upgrade to the latest version)

But as soon as I switched the Type to Categorical then it again flipped to display X axis horizontally.
