We have a HANA 2SP4 install with LDAP authentication. We are able to successfully connect to our HANA database using other tools, such as Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator, Tableau, etc. We are also able to successfully connect Power BI to HANA using a local HANA user. However, when we try to connect to HANA using Power BI with an LDAP user, we get the following error message:
[SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB DLL][HDBODBC] General error;10 authentication failed
Any ideas?

Wanted to provide an update/solution to this problem.
The problem is related to how you install PowerBI Desktop. If you install the application through the Microsoft Store, HANA ldap authentication does NOT work. If you install PowerBI Desktop through the standalone installer, provided at, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494, then HANA ldap authentication works as expected. We have tested this on over a dozen machines with over a dozen user accounts, and all were fixed by uninstalling through the Microsoft Store, and installing the standalone package.
So, obviously something is broken with the app provided through the Microsoft Store. I hope this saves someone else weeks of troubleshooting....

Hi @gerretbp ,
This might be relatde to unsupported, I didn't see the official document about this. You could refer to this idea for details.
By the way, if you connect to it by ODBC to see whether it or not and please check whether the credential is correct or not. You could refer to LDAP User Authentication for details.

Dax,
Thanks for the response.
HANA is properly configured, as we are able to connect with the same users, using LDAP, for other applications (Tableau, etc.). So it appears Power BI simply doesn't support LDAP to HANA. We'll see if we can submit a feature request somewhere for this functionality.
