Hello,
We have a SAP HANA database and user configured for LDAP in HANA. While attempting to connect to the HANA db using this user, we are receiving the following error:
[SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB DLL][HDBODBC] General error;10 authentication failed
We have tried the stand alone version of Power BI Desktop yet we continue to recieve this error. Is there a trick to making this work? Or does Power BI Desktop not work using HANA LDAP?
Regards
Hello,
Thank you for the response but the standalone installation did NOT work. Has anyone else been able to user LDAP with Power BI?
Regards
Hi, @mbfrr1

You can connect to HANA using Power BI with an LDAP user.
A solution has been offered to try installing the PowerBI Desktop through the standalone installer instead of the Microsoft Store, then HANA ldap authentication works as expected.
The problem is related to how you install PowerBI Desktop. If you install the application through the Microsoft Store, HANA ldap authentication does NOT work. If you install PowerBI Desktop through the standalone installer, provided at, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494, then HANA ldap authentication works as expected. We have tested this on over a dozen machines with over a dozen user accounts, and all were fixed by uninstalling through the Microsoft Store, and installing the standalone package.

Hope this helps.
