Retain formatting when exporting matrix to excel

My users are happy with their matrix reports showing nifty numbers in conditional formatted cells.   When they export the matrix so that they can do some analysis in Excel it loses the layout.   ...

Your first link says that, instead of exporting to excel then pivoting the data, I should export to PDF then copy paste to Excel. I imagine that this will retain some of the formatting.

Your second link just explains how to export to csv (ie, the tabular data)

The first link refers to yet a third which says to embed a live tile in excel. I haven't tried this one.

 

Have you used any of these successfully with business users, or does providing an Excel document become another Data Person responsibility?
