Removing the option to see "Data Point Table" from visuals in App

We're trying to share an App with a client, but want to keep all underlying data hidden.

We thought we could do this with an app, but we just realized something!!

https://i.gyazo.com/0fcd1722a0ca30c4980eb93ef13367c6.png

Upon right clicking a point in the pie chart above, there was an option to click "Data Point Table", which leads the viewer to a view where they see the entirety of the underlying dataset in table form.

We don't want the report consumer to be seeing this, they should only see the pie chart on the front-most end.

In the App permissions, all the relevant permissions were turned off:

Under Reports -> Settings, the 'Export Data' option was checked off too:

So I can't put my finger on what it is we were missing..

Hi @rainynights ,

try this.

Use a real Measure instead of a column Value for the visual.

Ok, the solution is quite easy and simple. You need to go to "Fields" Pane, right click at table (or click on the 3 dots) and select hide. From this point you can test it on a visual. When you select "show data point as a table" will provide only the used columns instead of the entire data table from query. Now you might need to use your hidden table elsewhere. Go to "Fields" Pane again, right click and select "view hidden". Voila!

I followed all the suggestions on this thread and the "show as table" optiong is still showing up. Any suggestions on what I can do next?

Hi @rainynights ,

maybe you can check the tenant settings in the admin portal.

Hi again @mwegener!

It looks like that's not it - I've turned off data exporting permissions on both service, as well as in the file settings in desktop.

But this hasn't fixed it!!

651adf04ef695dc3bad68546112c9279

I can still right click a piece of the visual and see the "Data Point Table" option, and this takes me to a page where I can see the underlying dataset, which contains patient-specific codes (we can't remove these codes because some relationships in the data model are based on them!!!).

For an issue this glaring, I'm surprised very few other people have brought this up!

Hi @rainynights ,

have you already checked access with a user with low rights?
I think as admin / owner you always have the right to export.

@mwegener

Bizarrely, I have!!

This is the permissions settings from the account that the client will be seeing the App from:

049dd15de9923717fa87ea1847b03b43

Pretty bewildering, I seem to have all the necessary options checked, yet this gaping hole in security (that no one else seems to have brought up) is here!

@mwegener

Nope, none whatsoever. The workspace in question is a confidential one that only 2 Admins have access to. Bewildering stuff indeed.

Thank you so much @mwegener !!!

That did it. Guess there's a reason that's considered a much better practice!!

Hi would it be possible to direct me to where I can learn more about measure vs. column value. I am trying to remove this option from my report that is embedded in an internal site
