RLS in Desktop & Server

Hello All

I'm working report request for setting up RLS based on Email id columns ( Developer, Lead ) , my power bi deskop version Version: 2.118.828.0 64-bit (June 2023) and its has new interface for Manage Roles.

1) RLS table created

2) Created Roles(2)  in desktop, condition set and when i view role RLS works.

 a) developer email =   "USERPRINCIPALNAME"

 b) leademail =  "USERPRINCIPALNAME"

3) RLS tables connected to Fact tables.

4) In Power BI Server  Dataset:.>Security :Selected options of Test as Role " I dont see data  in report.- Upto this part RLS is working as expected

5) when running report from workspace i see full data RLS isn't working. so someone let me know if i'm  missing any steps.?

Thanks

RM

Hi @RMRaptor ,

According to your statement, I think your issue is that RLS works in test as role and doesn't work when you see this report. I think this correct, due to you are the owner of the report.

As far as I know, the user who have the edit permission to the dataset, the RLS won't work to them and will show all data.

For reference: Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Workspace members assigned AdminMember, or Contributor have edit permission for the dataset and, therefore, RLS doesn’t apply to them.
