Hi all,
I have just read up on the new feature for Power BI: composite modelling.

Very excited about this feature as we have a multitude of data sources: some on our SQL server which I'd like to connect via DirectQuery and some imported from Excel OneDrive.
However, I had a couple questions about this new mixed storage mode options:

For question1, yes, you'd better to use the latest version of power.
For question2, if the "DirectQuery refresh" means cache refresh, I would suggest that you can't configure schedule refresh. You need to convert direct query mode to import mode.
About data refresh in power bi, I would suggest you read doc below:
