Questions about Composite Models
Hi all,
I have just read up on the new feature for Power BI: composite modelling.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-composite-models
Very excited about this feature as we have a multitude of data sources: some on our SQL server which I'd like to connect via DirectQuery and some imported from Excel OneDrive.
However, I had a couple questions about this new mixed storage mode options:
- Will I need to update to the newest version of PBI to use composite modelling?
- This is my main question: it involves the data refresh. Will I be able to utilize the DirectQuery refresh for those sources while the import sources use the normal scheduled refresh?
Please let me know!
Thanks,
Farhan
For question1, yes, you'd better to use the latest version of power.
For question2, if the "DirectQuery refresh" means cache refresh, I would suggest that you can't configure schedule refresh. You need to convert direct query mode to import mode.
About data refresh in power bi, I would suggest you read doc below:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-data
