Q&A Visual Not Showing Upcoming Month Events — Only Current and Past Months showing

Hi All,

I'm currently using the basic Q&A visual in Power BI to allow users to query release calendar events using natural language.

Attaching the structure of data:

So, when i ask questins like ""commit in june", "Can you please let me know the commit date in May?" - the correct date / result shows. Similarly, with current and past months it works fine.

But when I ask: “Commit in July” (or any upcoming month), it returns no results — even though the July events are present in the data and verified.

Still, the Q&A visual seems to only pick data from past or current months, and fails to recognize valid future month entries when queried by name.

Is there a known limitation or workaround to make the Q&A visual pick up future-dated records using month names? or am I missing something?

Adding the image for correct results:

Adding image for not showing results:

Also, I have found something, when I have a typo in month name for upcoming or future months it shows correct results:

Please help me to fix this.

Thanks

Hi @Rakesh_ashavron,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

The issue here is because power bi Q&A applies implicit time based filtering logic based on today’s date. So it does not shows the future months results, it’s a known limitation.

When there is a typo in your query, it bypasses the semantic date logic and it will do a direct text based match, that is why the results show up.

So to ensure all the records, including the future months to show, I recommend to use the text columns, not derived from a date hierarchy. This allows Q&A to match values directly without applying time-based filters.

Thanks and regards,
