Hi,
we created a simple factless star schema.
When I slide and dice the dimensions, everything is fine, but now I want to create some measures.
In bamboo_reports environment is a conditional column "Stage Counter", which is 1 or 0 depending on the environment_name.
I want to sum it for the combination of build, buildbranch and deployment.
This works fine, when I set "Cross Filter Direction" on both, but gives me the complete sum, if I put it to single. To be honest, I am wondering why.
Lets assume, I set cross filter on both and the sum is properly shown. Next thing is, that we want to create a measure based on the sum of "Stage Counter".
It is a simple calculation
Stage Index = SUM('bamboo_reports environments'[Stage Counter]) * -1 +6 When I add this to the shown table, the best thing I could achieve, is that every buildplan, buildplan_branch and deploymentplan is combined independently to its foreign keys. and the Index is always the same wrong number. Normally I just get a memory error...
To be honest, I am no BI pro, but I have different experiences in data warehousing, SQL and modelling. Here I just don't have a clue, what is happening.
Regards
Hi @wolfjnh,
From above description, I am not clear abour your problem.
Could you please provide some simplified sample data (detailed records) to help us better understand your table structure and illustrate what is your desired output?
"every buildplan, buildplan_branch and deploymentplan is combined independently to its foreign keys. and the Index is always the same wrong number. Normally I just get a memory error..."
What do you mean "is combined independently to its foreign keys"? What is the error message?
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Hi,
I uploaded a powerbi file
Please use the "Buildplan: Stages" report. There you can add bamboo_reports environments Stage Index in the second table.
I meant, that powerbi was generating the Cartesian product of the dimensions, ignoring foreign keys, just as there is no connection between tables.
Regards,
Jan
