PowerBi Resource-Capacity

Hello dear forum members,

Once again, I have a question regarding resource/capacity planning.
Starting from the resource, we would like to see an overview of availability. Different tasks and absences (which are set up as their own project type, behaving like general projects or tasks) should be checked for overlaps, to see if they are happening in parallel.
Unfortunately, we do not have access to the underlying data, which makes meaningful processing of the master data set impossible.

Is there a way to display or compare such capacity planning using a standard visual or a free visual?

My idea would be to approach it via a date comparison. The period from start to end of each task would be compared with all other tasks (for a specific resource). If parallel tasks occur, or if the employee is absent, an "alert" should be triggered. And then, within the visual, one should be able to navigate to the task in the project where the overlap occurs.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Anonymous ,

There are multiple visuals to represent. please share sample data and desired output format (may be and image of similar kind) to get into this.

        Rupak_bi  Thanks for you answer.

What kind of sample data do you need?

Which matrix visualisation do you mean? We use the build-in matrix from PowerBI.

        Thanks in advance

    Anonymous ,

Could you please provide sample data that fully represents the issue or question you're referring to? Kindly ensure the data is in a usable format (e.g., Excel or CSV) rather than a screenshot, and does not contain any sensitive or unrelated information.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    Lakshmi.

    Rupak_bi Hello,

I can´t post Excel format in here. That results in an error.

By sample data do you mean the semantikmodel?

Maybe it works with an CSV data, but I dont know how to create or transform my Semantik Dataset into one.

If you could tell me what you need and how to post it here im glad sharing our sample data.

    Best wishes.

      Hi Anonymous ,

I need the excel/csv table details with all the rows and columns. You may share sample representative data as well or can change texts and share.

Copy the table and paste here as plain text.

Sadly its not possible to compare Start and Finish Date in a loop for every single task from a specific resource.

I hope this helps to understand my question better.

I will try to provide the sample data for next week.

    Best regard.
