Is anyone else experiencing strange behavior from the PowerBI updates?
We currently use a third party app, Shavlik Protect, to handle our monthly updates. As more of our users receive the PowerBI Desktop, we are getting reports of issues with the updates.
If the desktop is open when the update attempts to install, it fails. If the update installs successfully, it sometimes triggers an immediate, unannounced reboot of the OS. (we can see msiexec doing this in the logs, not Shavlik)
Keep in mind that Shavlik is using the patch directly from MS and in no way modifies it.
Hi @brachus12,
I didn't face this problem ever. In your scenario, if updating Power BI desktop manually via downloading the new version from official web page and reinstall on your machine, will it trigger the reboot of the OS?
In addition, to handle the monthly updates of Power BI desktop, you could enable the "update Notification" option under File ->Options and Settings -> Updates
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
