PowerBI Desktop External Component throws exception

Hello Everyone,

Ever since this morning upon opening PowerBI Desktop I receive an error message such as the following:

isaez_0-1679386676817.png

It doesnt matter if i open from an existing file or from scratch, the result is the same. The only way i can get it to work is when I open a file which has a directquery, but any other files with import or dual datasources crash upon opening.

I have some other collegues who are experiencing the same issue. It could be the latest update, beacause since it was installed on the 17.03 I only used it yesterday, but on DirectQuery Models...

Does anybody know how to solve this, or is experiencing the same issue?

PS: Im attaching the error details, for further information:

Thanks I will try doing that. However, if that works, it would be only a temporary fix. What is the long term plan? is there already any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Hi @isaez ,

Unfortunately I can't reproduce your issue, I'm guessing it might be due to a version issue, suggesting that you roll back the version.

If you are a Power BI Pro licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I have already done that, and am in contact with the support engineers. So far the only provided solution is to rollback to february version, but like i said that can only be a temporary solution.

Best regards

have the support engineers mangaged to fully fix the issue for you yet ?

Hi,

Not yet, so far the only proposed solution is a roll back to a previous version, but no fix for the current or future version has been provided. I have sent them the logs for their analysis though, so perhaps something will come out of it.
