I am creating a work order dashboard for my department to track the closeout of compliance items from our federal inspection. The only data field that we can use to track open or closed in power BI is the closed date/time field, there is no open/closed status data field (Out database sucks). So the options from that data field are blank (meaning its still open) or the various dates of the closeout. I am trying to create an open and closed button to select and see which are open and closed. i used the slicer but only get options for a blank field and all the dates these were closed. Is this possible with the given information?

You can do it with Power Query. Click on the Transform Data button in the Home ribbon menu and it will take you there.

You would need to create a conditional/custom column with a logic you define to determine what's closed and what's open depending on the dates or other criteria.

Excuse my ignorance if this is a dumb question, but our data feed is automatic from the database. Ive never seen a spreadsheet containing the data. is this still an option?
