hi all,
Anyone having issues with Power Bi Helper ? I have mainly been using it to remove unused columns. When I tried to connect my model today it just wouldn't detect it. The model selection dropdown is blank
I am using the jan 2025 version of PBI. I am fairly certain that I have been successful in using the add-on with this version of PBI as well ( by looking at the dates on the backup files) so not sure what is going on
appreciate all suggestions!

that's what I thought as well. The back-up logs indicate hint show the backed up files dating end of Feb. I have been using the latest version since the release
There is a support / feedback button in the tool but it does not work. I did post a query on the Power BI heper page in the Radacad site . The last time anyone posted anything on Power BI helper was back in 2020. So not sure how often it is checked
Anyways, I will re-installing an older version of Power BI
Hi @Uniqueusername ,
Has the issue been resolved after installing the older version of Power BI? If yes please accept your reply as solution so as to help other community members
Thank you
I’ve seen this issue with Power BI Helper before it’s often tied to model size or permission problems. Please try below
Start by opening a backup copy and removing any unused tables or hidden columns. That alone fixes it in many cases. Also check if the model was built using Preview features or an older unsupported version. Power BI Helper doesn’t always handle those well.
One tip: try opening the file in Tabular Editor before running Helper. It can flag metadata issues early and helps spot anything broken behind the scenes.
