Hello,
What is the prescribed way to version control Power BI solutions?
If Import mode is used, then actual data in PBIX also gets version controlled which does not sound useful let alone the size restrictions.
Hi @SuraMan ,
Could you please mark the proper answers as solutions?
Best Regards,
Hi @SuraMan,
It seems the version control here isn't the ordinary one. Usually, the version of a report is based on the contents that would be visuals, new queries, etc. If this is the case, the file name could be helpful.
You mentioned the actual data gets version controlled. What is it? We should always use the latest data to do the analysis, right?
Best Regards,
Hi @v-jiascu-msft,
Is there TFS integration support in Power BI Desktop?
If not, all we can do is to upload *.pbix to TFS manually. *.pbix is a zip file that contains report definitions and data, so they can be very big. There is no use in uploading data to the TFS for version control.
Hi @SuraMan,
To be honest, I don't aware of any special Version control that integrates with Power BI directly. The TFS is a good idea. If you use the Power BI template file (pbit), it will be easy to go. Please refer to deep-dive-into-query-parameters-and-power-bi-templates/ and do-you-use-version-control-with-power-bi.
