Hi,
So I have been working all day long on a dashboard and saved it multiple times. Other colleagues could even open the updated files on their pc trough the network drive it was saved on.
I tried to save the file again and then got an error saying Power BI was unable to save the file because there was no more space available, which is not true. I tried again, didn't work.
Then tried to save as a new file and the folder navigation bugged with missing icons and buttons. So I couldn't save it.
After that I tried to save as an excisting older version of my file because it was possible to select the files in my current folder. Again the same error.
Closed Power BI and it didn't ask me if I wanted to save the file. It closed immediately.
Went back to the folder with my files, and both of the files are missing now!
Power BI normally gives me the option the recover the files, but now I don't have that option. What can I do!? This costed me two days of work...
Hi @Anonymous
Please first check which version do you use, please update to the lastest one.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-latest-update
Then check if your server meets the minumum requirements to run Power BI Desktop.

There is a similar thread you could refer to:

The same happened to me and two files disappeared.
While I was working PowerBI crashed and two files I was working on disappeared from the folder and they weren't even in the PowerBI's "Recent elements" list.
This behaviuor makes PowerBI very unreliable.

Hi @Anonymous ,
Yes, I agree with you.
I've found a kind of workaround on how to be able to still recover your files.
When Power BI crashes, you'll most likely get an error message. Don't press okay, but rather close Power BI with the taskmanager. This way you force Power BI to shut down and in my case when you open Power BI again you can use the recovered file.
When you do press okay, there is a high change that you can still recover the file but it is not guaranteed, that's why I use this workaround.
This is not ideal, but it may help you...
