Is there a way to tackle this?
I want to count the IDs where the closure month is equal to the period.
It will not let me and I am not sure where the problem exactly is....

hi, @rpinxt
use your filter part of calculate in FILTER function.
try below code
closed =
calculate(distinctcount('case'[id]),
filter('dimdate',dimdate=[closure month])
)

Thanks @Dangar332 that seems to be working.
Well I get amounts, not sure if they are correct but I will have to analyse the data.
At least it gives output, thanks for showing me this way of using filter function inside the filter section of calculate.

Maybe I need to elaborate more.
I have a table called 'Case' and one field in this table is called [CloseDate].
And I have an autocalendar which gives me period (linked to a date field in the 'Case' table), 'dimDate'[Period].
Now I want to count the field 'Case'[Id] where the 'Case'[CloseDate] = 'dimDate'[Period].
But I cannot reference the field 'Case'[CloseDate] in my measure without using for example MAX.
However then I get only 1 period and I need it to look in every period and then give me the amount for that month.
