ODBC Error 10060: Connector to Azure Databricks in Power BI Desktop

Hi all

The following error occurred when I connect Azure Databricks with the new Azure Databricks connector in Power BI desktop.

"ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ThriftExtension] (14) Unexpected response from server during a HTTP connection: connect() failed: errno = 10060."

I found a solution in from the Tableau web site,

-------------

Use the ODBC driver configuration options and the Other Databases (ODBC) connector.

e.g. Simba Spark ODBC driver

-------------

Do I need install this one?

Thanks&Regards,

Qubo

Hi Liang

I found this error only occurred when I connect databricks from Power BI desktop with Office LAN. I can successfully to connect in a public internet environment without ODBC driver.

Do you have any advices?

Thanks&Regards,

Qubo

Hi Liang

I confirmed my Power BI desktop version (2.86.902.0 32-bit (2020/10)) that is higher than 2.85.681.0.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/integrations/bi/

Do you think I need to install ODBC driver?

The issue of my original question occurs when I follow the steps in the following URL.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/integrations/bi/power-bi

Thanks&Regards,

Qubo

Unfortunately, I changed the URL to the following format, the error is the same.

https://<server-host-name>:<port>/<http-path>

"ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ThriftExtension] (14) Unexpected response from server during a HTTP connection: connect() failed: errno = 10060."

I found "Step 1: Download and install a JDBC or ODBC driver" in your link, should I install the JDBC/ODBC dirver when I use Power BI?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/integrations/bi/jdbc-odbc-bi#get-server-hostname-p...

Because I cannot find the required step (install ODBC driver) in the following URL.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/integrations/bi/power-bi

Qubo

Hi @Anonymous ,

Does the URL you enter include the port number when using the connector?

Connecting with a server url composed like this may works:

https://<server-host-name>:<port>/<http-path>

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/integrations/bi/jdbc-odbc-bi#get-server-hostname-port-http-path-and-jdbc-url

Best Regards,
Liang
