Not using Dataflows make Datasets

I want to create a datasets right away without dataflows.
Is there a way to create a datasets right away through the gateway that my coworker created for me?
I can't get data right now using 'Get Data' from Poser BI Desktop.
So my coworker told me to make a report through Gateway.
What should I do?

Can you tell me how to create datasets from on-premises gateway at the Power BI Desktop?

I think if I want to get data, use 'Get data'..I can't find gateway at the Desktop.

I tried to use 'Get data'>'PostgreSQL Database'>>fail, because It is not possible to connect to server

So my coworker create gateway, then I hqve to use that gateway

But I dont understant how to use that gateway at the Desktop

Please tell me how to do this

As I mentioned you need to start with Power BI Desktop. It has a "native" PostGreSQL connector or you can use regular ODBC.

If you can't reach your data source from the Desktop then the gateway cluster members will likely not see it either. Check for ports and firewalls.

On the Power BI Service you can only create datasets from cloud sources.  On Power BI Desktop you can also create datasets from on-premise data sources.  You only need a gateway for the latter.  (A gateway is like a headless Power BI Desktop).  You cannot create datasets from gateways though.
