Network Navigator Database

For all those who don't know, Network Navigator is a visual app. I am trying to make a Biology Taxonomy. The attached picture has a basic example. I am having trouble structuring my data to make the network web. I want to format it as two levels per sheet in excel (e.g. Order/Family on Sheet 1, Family/Genus on Sheet 2). However, when I put this into excel it only accounts for the two levels found in a sheet. It is not accounting for the relationship between sheets to expand the map. My only success is if I build every relationship in two columns, but that is very disorganized. Is there a way for Network Navigator to consider the relationship between sheets to expand the web beyond two levels? If there is a way to upload documents on here I would be happy to provide examples.

Thanks!

Hi.

You can use Treeviz ghaph. It will show hierarchy as you need.

Hi @gardl,

As I tested, the relationship between two dots depents on the row relationship. For example, I create the simple example below. The row relation betweem column A and B is one-to-one, please see the visual, there will be single relation between two dots.

While I create another many-one(highlighted in yellow) example, you will see the mutiple lines in visual.

For your requirement, please manage the data in your resource table, then create the Network Navigator. Besides, Network Navigator is a cuatom visual developed by third person. You can connect it by emailing to msrvizsupport@microsoft.com.

Hi Angelia,

I had no issue expanding separate nodes. Using your second picture, I want to also have lines connecting 5, 9 and 10, but on a separate sheet. As you can see in my pictures, there are two tables with each describing a different level of the relationship. However, this does not give me the picture I want. Its only when I put everything in two columns that I get the correct visualization. I don't want to put everything into two colums on one sheet because then it will be very disorganized. I want my data set up as shown in example 1, with my final output visualization as shown in example 2. Network Navigator is ignoring the relationship between the sheets, and simply giving me the output of a single sheet.

Hi @gardl,

For your requirement, you want to display your resource data in three tables, while you want to get the visualization like Ex.2. We are unable to achieve it directly. I suggest you replicate the three table twice. Merge distinct three to one like Ex.2, while use other three table to create what you want.

Thanks,
Angelia
