Multi-page drill-through

Hi all,

I am trying to build a solution where I have three pages:

Page A (main page) - contains a list of products we could sell
Page B - contains details for the selected product
Page C - contains a report for all the customers the product has been sold to.

The process is to start at Page A, drill-through to Page B, then click a page navigation button to navigate to Page C.

Page A drilling through to Page B is no issue.  But navigating from Page B to Page C (while retaining the product / filter applied to Page B) doesn't seem to work.

I have tried using the page navigation button and "keep filters".  I have also tried adding a slicer (hidden) on Page B, which is synced to Page C, but when there is only one product selected, the slicer option isn't selected by default, so this doesn't propagate to Page C.

I would also like to prevent users from drilling through directly from Page A -> Page C as well 🙂
Hoping there is an easy solution for this, but any help greatly appreciated.

(No chatGPT responses please).

Kind regards,

Ben.

Hi @bhalicki

I had a similar problem / use case a few years ago and I ended up solving it with bookmarks.

In short, you'd make just Page A and Page B, where Page B contained both the product details content and the customers content, overlapping. Then you could use a button together with bookmarks to hide/unhide the page content, creating the illusion that you are navigating between report pages.

Please see my more detailed write up for as the marked solution in this older thread:

Hope this helps, but let me know if you run into any issues!

Thanks guys.  I was hoping Microsoft had a better solution for this situation.  Thanks for the tips all the same.

Kind regards,

Ben

Hi @bhalicki

What you’re trying to achieve isn’t possible with the current setup. Filters from Page B cannot be carried over to Page C unless they come from a synced slicer. Drillthrough filters are only passed when the navigation originates from a visual that contains the drillthrough fields. Following @dk_dk ’s suggestion to use bookmarks would be the better approach, as this keeps everything on the same page and allows the drillthrough filters to apply to all visuals on that page, whether they’re visible or not.
