Hi, I'm using the Miscrosoft Gantt chart 3.0.12.0 with two levels of hierarchy: Parents and Sub-Tasks. The data is structured in a table as follows: Parent Phase, Sub Task, Start date, End date, and other metadata. Below the Gantt Chart I have a Table with the details of all the tasks that are shown in the Gantt Chart and their metadata. The data source is the same between table and Gantt chart. When I select a specific Sub-task in the gantt view, it highlights the task and the bottom table filters correctly the Sub-task and it's metadata.
However, when the Gantt chart is collapsed at the parent level, and I select a line at the parent level in the gantt chart, the dataset is filtered on the first Task. I would have expected the filter to narrow down all sub-tasks below the selected parent rather than just the first sub-task (Similar to a hierarchy in a matrix). Is there any way to filter the dataset to show all the tasks from the selected Parent ?
Thanks for your help
Thanks for your quick reply. It seems like a propagating filters in hierarchies is one of the fundamerntal features of all Microsoft visuals and reason why PowerBI is awesome, very surprised it does not work correctly here. Thanks for your suggestions, but Paid visuals is not an option.
Hi @PacBI ,
Here is a demo with data hierarchy. When we drill down, it will show all child tasks.
When we drill up to parent, it will show result based on all tasks instead of task1.
You can download the attachments and check the demo.

Hi @PacBI - Microsoft Gantt Chart 3.0.12.0 does not automatically propagate selection filters from a parent task to all associated sub-tasks when selecting the parent level in a collapsed hierarchy. By default, the filtering logic might only recognize the first sub-task or no sub-tasks at all unless explicitly set up.
Microsoft Gantt Chart may have limitations with hierarchy filtering. Consider switching to an alternate Gantt Chart custom visual, such as:
Gantt by MAQ Software
Gantt Chart by xViz
These visuals often have better handling of hierarchical selection and filtering. Ensure you configure fields to match the hierarchy (Parent → Sub-task).
Try the above suggested charts. please check.
