Merging multiple workspaces with different data sources in one common workspace

Hey everyone !

I want to ask you about merging workspaces of different clients (different data sources then), on power BI, in one common workspace to show it to our future customers.

Anyone has any idea on how to realize that ?

Thanks in advance for your help 😄

Hey @Anonymous ,

I'm not sure about the current architecture.

Are the current different workspaces located in your Power BI tenant?

Nevertheless, there is no such command (PowerShell or REST API) that is called MergeWorkspace.

But of course, you can re-publish the pbix files into one new workspace, then you different data sources and multiple reports in one workspace.

There are also PowerShell commands that allow copying existing reports to a new workspace:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoftpowerbimgmt.reports/copy-powerbireport?view=powerbi-ps

Here is a link how you can "duplicate" workspaces using PowerShell: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/duplicating-workspaces-by-using-power-bi-cmdlets/

Hopefully, this provides some new ideas on how to tackle your challenge.

Regards,

Tom
