Matrix visual - Formatting (rows format differently)

Hello,

I have 3 rows in my Matrix, only one is formatted differently, however I did not do that. My "Description WBS" column is formatted as I want and formatted exactly the same as my value columns. Why does the green line doesn't get formatted all the way to the left? How can I change that?

Also I want to format my rows with "Total" in Bold, however if I try that under Rowsubtotals and than Values, everything gets formatted in bold, also the "normal" rows.

Hi @DutchMark,
Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Fabric Community Forum. Also, thanks to  @FBergamaschi  for those inputs on this thread.

Green underline not coming fully to the left this usually happens because the Matrix adds indentation when there are multiple fields in the Rows area. You can try turning off the Stepped layout under Row headers –> options  and check if that makes the lines align properly.

Bold only for “Total” rows  At the moment, Power BI formatting applies bold to all rows or all subtotals. There isn’t a direct option to bold only “Total” rows. A workaround many people use is conditional formatting on the values for example, making font weight bold only if the row contains “Total”. That way you can highlight just those rows.

Right now there’s no one-click setting for this, so conditional formatting is the best way

Hope this helps if you have any queries we are  happy to assist you further.
Best Regards,
Harshitha.

It is difficult to understand the issue not having the pbix

Anyway, please check in the format section of the matrix for "column headers" and check the alignment setting

Otherwise there might me some empty spaces in the other columns

If this helped, please consider giving kudos and mark as a solution

The green line being not draw all the way to the left has nothing to do with alignment. You see a green line under each row for description WBS. A.I. also didn't know it. The pbix which I can not share nor simplify won't help. Maybe there is a workaround.

Also did read nothing about the totals.

"You can try turning off the Stepped layout under Row headers –> options  and check if that makes the lines align properly."  That has not been under this option for quite some time. It has been moved.
