trying to find a way to do multi level sorting in a Matrix I came up empty. it is true that this feature is not supported !!!!
are there any workarounds?

Current power bi not support apply multiple sorting orders on matrix, you can refer to following link to create a custom sort order table to apply multiple column sorting:
Custom Order=
COUNTROWS (
FILTER (
Table,
ISONORAFTER (
[Column1], Table[Column1], DESC,
[Column2], Table[Column2], DESC,
[Column3],Table[Column3], ASC
)
)
)
