I want to create a map of one state and not the entire US. My data contains a column for country, state, county and region. There are around 25 different regions and each region is several counties combined.
now here is my problem- I want to created a filled map of that one state where regions get color coded by the variable percent. How do I do that?
Hi @Amittal ,
I suggest you to try Shape Map in Power BI Desktop.
For reference: Use custom maps

I found a shape file online for the state and added it using custom maps. But when I add region from my data file onto the map it does not recognize it. Any recommendations?
I found a shape file online
That shape file needs to contain attributes for your "regions", and the same column name must exist in your data model and be categorized as "place"
How to I add attributes to the shape file. Could you please guide me?
They would have to be added when you create the shapes. Whatever GIS tool produced them
Do you have a TopoJSON file with the contours and attributes?
