Locking Header Rows in grid/table

I have a Table object that is populated from a SqlServer table.  I need to have the first 6 rows locked when the user scrolls down so they wont disappear.  Is this possible?  For example, when scrolling down, the USL-LSL plus P150 stays visible

Hi @bdherh

In Power BI, locking (freezing) rows in a table visual is not natively supported. There’s no built-in way to freeze the top N rows of a Table or Matrix visual so that they remain visible while scrolling.

Thanks,

Hi @bdherh ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft fabric community forum.

At this time, Power BI does not support locking or freezing rows in a Table or Matrix visual only columns can be frozen in Matrix visuals as mentioned by @ajaybabuinturi

As a workaround you can display your USL–LSL reference rows in a separate static table placed above your main table visual. This way, the reference data remains visible while users scroll through the rest of the table.

Thank you.

So there is not a built in way to do this.  Is there a way programatically to perform this?

Thanks

Hi @bdherh ,

Thank you @ajaybabuinturi the suggestion made regarding the “Custom and Grouped Headers” visual by JTA. This custom visual from AppSource is designed to offer enhanced flexibility in displaying grouped or fixed-style headers, which may help simulate part of your requirement.

As an additional alternative, consider structuring your layout using two synchronized visuals: one visual showing the reference rows (USL to LSL) and a second visual below for the dynamic dataset. This doesn't freeze the rows but can give the impression of a locked header when properly aligned.

Microsoft is continuously improving Power BI's visual capabilities, so I also recommend submitting this as a feature request or voting on similar ideas in the Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community.

Hi @bdherh
