Live connection to Excel workbook

Hi!

I was shared a live Microsoft workbook but my access is restricted on the workbook (view only), I'm trying to create a live connection between the workbook and Power BI Desktop but its not working.

I want to know if the access restriction is responsible for this and is there an alternative?
