Line and Column Cluster chart

I am doing a datacamp course using PowerBI desktop.

I tried to assign data to the line y-axis but I was unable to drop the data into the space.

I tried to click on the cell to see if it held and allowed me to drop the data into the space without success.

Please advise.

Hi, @te7037

Regarding the issue you raised, my solution is as follows:

Make sure that the data you're trying to assign to the y-axis is a number. PowerBI requires numeric data for the y-axis in the line chart. In particular, when the field you want to drag in belongs to a measure, and the return value of the measure is a Boolean value, a date, and a text, it is not possible to drag in the line y-axis.

Of course, you can also check that your PowerBI Desktop is up to date. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer versions.

Here's the version number I'm using:

It is recommended that you try to upgrade the version according to your needs to see if this can solve the problem, the following is the official link:
Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center

Of course, if you have any new ideas, you are welcome to contact us.

Best Regards,

  • I found the solution: I need to switch the ribbon on top of the dashboard that contains the sub tools in order to hide it so that the section for the data fields is visible for data dropping.

The photo below shows the ribbon being present before it is hidden:

After the ribbon is hidden:
