What I want is to calculate the number of items that existed at one time.
I am using this measure:
Toal Initialed =
VAR Currentdate = MAX(Dates[Date])
VAR TotalInitiated =
IF(
(CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(data[MOC Number]),
data[Submission Date]<=Currentdate)) = BLANK(), 0,
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(data[MOC Number]),
data[Submission Date]<=Currentdate)
)
Return
TotalInitiated
However it seems like the filtering for the submission date isn't doing anything. Infact if I make other measures that swap out 'Submission Date' for 'Closed Date' or 'Cancelled Date' I'm getting exactly the same number (which isn't right).
What am I doing wrong?

Hi, @Anonymous
According to your measure formula, I think you can try to change it like this:
Toal Initialed =
VAR Currentdate = MAX(Dates[Date])
VAR TotalInitiated =
IF(
(CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(data[MOC Number]),
FILTER(ALLSELECTED(data),[Submission Date]<=Currentdate)) = BLANK(), 0,
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(data[MOC Number]),
FILTER(ALLSELECTED(data),[Submission Date]<=Currentdate)
)
Return
TotalInitiated
If the measure sill can’t meet your requirement, you can your sample test pbix file (without sensitive data) and your expected result.

@Anonymous , Is dates is an independent table? If not this filter will not work properly
Toal Initialed =
VAR Currentdate = MAX(Dates[Date])
VAR TotalInitiated =
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(data[MOC Number]),
Filter(data,data[Submission Date]<=Currentdate))+0
Return
TotalInitiated
The Dates table is separate from the Data table.
I used your measure and unfortunately it still is giving me the same number for the three date types.
