Issue getting data from a PowerBI source in a differnt workspace

I have a report that pulls in data from various soures (Excel files from Teams, SharePoint lists, several DirectQuery to AS PowerBI semantic models).  I have one more dataset that I would like to add.  It is also a PowerBI model.  However, I get the following error:

"The specified Power BI workspace ("workspace name") is not found.  Technical Details:  RootActivityID:ID# Workspace: 'workspace name'

I am able to connect to this datasource if I create a new report.  But, if there is a DIrectQuery connection, I get the error.  The workspace in question is a personal workspace (not mine), if that makes a difference and I have build access to the semantic model.  I am publishing to a company workspace.

How can I get the data connected?

Thanks for your help!

Thank you very much for your response!

I'm not quite sure I understand.  I have several other connections to semantic models in this report, which all work well.  It is just a single new model to which I am trying to connect where I get the error.  Each of the working models are within the same workspace as the report and the one to which I am having issues is in a seperate (personal, not mine) workspace (I have build rights for this model).  This is what led me to believe that perhaps the workspace is the cause of the issue.

Without gaining access directly to the dataset itself, how can I pull the data into my report?  I have not used dataflows before, so I will do some research on that.

Thanks again!

Semantic models are their own "world" - you can't combine a semantic model with other tables in a new report like you're imagining. What you'd do is edit the original semantic model to include those sources, or make a separate model. If you have particular tables you want to share or standardize, dataflows are a good place for that.
