Issue: Refresh Failed – Data Source Credentials

I am facing an issue where my report refreshes perfectly in Power BI Desktop, but once I publish it to the Power BI Service, the scheduled refresh fails. It shows errors saying the data source credentials are missing or invalid, and the Service is unable to update those credentials.

  • In Power BI Service, go to the workspace, locate the dataset, click the three dots, and open Settings, then check the “Data source credentials” section.

  • For each data source showing an error, click Edit credentials, choose the correct authentication method (such as OAuth2 or Basic), sign in with an account that has access, and save; after this, re-run the refresh or re-enable scheduled refresh.
