How to match shape map with column slider

Hello,

I am new to power BI and I am trying to coordinate my shape map with the different columns however nothing is working and all the value state that it is zero.

I tried puting a column slider using parameter filter but it is not seeing the data. Am I missing something?

I feel like there is something really obvious that I just can't see. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @AmateurStatic ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community.

The issue arises because your year values (2018-19, 2019-20, etc.) are stored as separate columns, but slicers in Power BI filter row values, not columns.

To fix this:

  1. Go to Power Query → Select the year columns → Right-click → Unpivot Columns.

  2. Use the new “Year” column in your slicer and the “Value” column in your Shape Map.

This will allow your map to update dynamically based on the selected year. If the issue still persist, please provide  sample file as mentioned by @Anonymous  for accurate solution.

I hope this will resolve your issue, if you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Hi @AmateurStatic ,

Could you please provide example data or sample files here if you have any confused? We could offer you more help if we have information in detail. And what you expect the output to be. There is sensitive data that can be removed in advance. How to provide sample data in the Power BI Forum - Microsoft Fabric Community

Thanks for your understanding. Your time and cooperation are much valued by us. We are looking forward to hearing from you to assist further.

Best regards,

Lucy Chen
