Hiding a visualisation

Hi, is it possible to hide a visual from report (pbix file)?

I have pinned that visual on dashbord, but dont want to show it on report. Cant change the font white as it will affect dashboard visual. Please help if anyone knows any trick 🙂

How about putting a white box on top of it?

I will not give you bad advice, even if you unknowingly ask for it.

NOTE: this is NOT by any means the expected convention but it does allow you to accommodate some users’ requests.

This solution does require you publish the report twice with one change in between, the hiding of the visualization.

  1. Place the visualization to be pinned somewhere on the target page in the Power BI Desktop Report. Doesn’t matter where because you’re going to hide it shortly.
  2. Publish the report to the Power BI Service.
  3. Open the report in the Power BI Service.
  4. Pin the visualization to the desired dashboard.
  5. Back on your Desktop Report in Windows, hide the visualization you just pinned.
    a. Easiest way to hide it is to use View|Selection Pane from the menu. An alternative is to hide behind a non-transparent visualization.
    b. The visualization MUST remain on the page to which a click on the pinned visualization in the Power BI Service Dashboard will send you.
  6. Save the Desktop Report.
  7. Publish the report to the Power BI Service.
  8. Go to the Power BI Service Dashboard with the visualization you’d recently pinned (NOT to the report you just published).
  9. Click on the pinned visualization.

The Power BI Service should open the Power BI Report on the same page as the pinned visualization BUT you won’t see the visualization because it has since been hidden.

That’s it.
