Hi all,
I'm somewhat new to Power BI, and I'm hoping to be able to use it to connect to an online database, grab the data, and work with it in Power BI. This website only needs a username and password to log in and access the reports, however when I try to use Basic Authorization in Power BI I keep getting an error stating that the credentials provided are invalid. Is there something I'm missing here?
Thanks in advance for any guidance provided.
Unfortunately the term "basic" is a bit confusing.
Basic authentication means your Username and Password is sent as a base 64 encoded string in your request's authentication header. It's not necessarily going to be supported as an authentication method by all websites that use username and password to log in via a browser. And it isn't very secure on its own since your credentials aren't encrypted. If the website has an API, you would need to review its documentation and see which authentication methods are supported.
