Filtering Different Data Sets with a Single Slicer

Hi,

I have a report with a single dashboard incorporating visuals drawing from three different data sets.

Each of the data sets has a field/column "Department" with the same four options for each record.  I want to use a single slicer to filter the other visuals by Department, regardless of which data set they draw from.

The data sets are totally different tables, have no common fields other than Department and cannot realistically be combined into a single data set.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi,

you should create an extra table, just containing 1 column "Department".

Then create the following relations:

Department --> Dataset1.Department

Department --> Dataset2.Department

Department --> Dateset3.Department

Use the Department from the new table as the Filter.

Hi @LeopoldStotch,

I agree with mravestein's point of view, use exist column to create a new table and create the relationship between them.

Sample formula:

Merged Table= DISTINCT(UNION(VALUES(Table1[Department]),VALUES(Table2[Department]),VALUES(Table3[Department]))

Then create the relationship between these tables with "single" mode of "cross filter direction" option.
