An external organisation has shared a semantic model with me, however I am getting the following error.
- AAD Authentication Failure
I have a guest account in their organisation which I believe is configured correctly.
Is there a likely reason for this error or could it be due to various reasons?
Thanks
Hi @tb92
The AAD Authentication Failure often points to an issue with Azure Active Directory (AAD) permissions or authentication settings, and there are a few common causes:
Conditional Access Policies: The external organization may have conditional access policies restricting certain actions or requiring multi-factor authentication (MFA). Check with their admin to see if any policies apply to guest accounts.
Permissions for the Shared Resource: Ensure that you have been granted the necessary permissions specifically for the semantic model. Even if you have a guest account, the resource itself must be shared with you explicitly.
Authentication Method Conflicts: Some organizations set restrictions on guest access based on certain authentication methods. Check if your login method meets their security requirements.
B2B Collaboration Settings: The organization might restrict external users to specific parts of their AAD environment, which can sometimes block access to shared resources. Their IT team might need to adjust the B2B collaboration settings for your account.
It’s best to contact the external organization’s admin team to confirm any policies or restrictions on guest accounts, as resolving these issues often requires admin intervention on their end.
