My students with MACs are using virtual desktops for Power BI assignments and many of them get this error when using the query editor. Any suggestions on trouble shooting?

Hi @Maureen ,
Which version of power bi desktop you are using? Please make sure all your versions which you are using to open files are the same. If the version is before Sept. 2020, pelase try to disable 'Store datasets using enhanced metadata' format in Options and restart power bi desktop.
If the version is after Sept. 2020, the enhanced metadata format is bulit-in by default, try to run power bi desktop as administrator to check it again.
Best Regards,
Stephen Tao
