Editing geo data

I have a dataset including a variable with adressses on several danish companies. Power BI converts thes beatifully to geo data and makes it possible to show a map with the locations. However I have af few adresses that seems to be associated with wrong locations in USA and other countries abroad. How can I correct these errors? Any input or guidance will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I have the same challenge. European cities were located in the USA.

Solution: Do it without asking Bing. Use just CountryZIP with GPS location.

1. Use the file of global countryZIP, cities and GPS locations (all countries with ZIP, 1,000,000 rows)
https://coronadatasource.org/open-data/geo-data/world-country-zip-codes-country-zip-gps/

2. Filter only country locations which you need (Delete others)

3. Create Country ZIP in your own updated data
format of CountryZIP:   charCountryCode & "_" & ZIP
example: SK_01001

4. Connect tables together by CountryZIP

Now my maps are not only totally precise, but are loading definitely faster.

Also I found use other datasets from CDS like dataset of countries, country codes, regions, population and so on...

@Otil Using process called geo-coding you can convert from address to their corresponding latitude and longtiude values and then use those in power bi. Using lat long means you always get correct spot in power bi. You can convert address to lat long manually outside power bi or check out this article on how to use bing maps api (or you can use any other service that provides those api) to convert address to lat long in power bi.

Powe BI uses Bing Maps to geocode its data so you may have better luck posting in the Bing Maps forums.
