Dynamic default slicer selection

Hello. These values are not attached to an actual date, so I am not sure how to have the default slicer selection update when the report is refreshed. Any help is appreciated.

You can make a slicer with the visual filter set to top n by whatever latest 5 academic periods or to top 5 periods  by revenue depending whats the requirement

Hi, you cannot make dynamic selection in power bi unless you give your selection a generic name. Lets say I always want the current month to be selected by default, then I have to create a column where i would say the month of today ="Current Month". Once current month is selected, the selection will remain after refresh.

Thanks, that's what I though. One thing I am trying to do is make a measure that is a list of the top five values in the ACADEMIC_PERIOD column. Power BI wants me to use the TOPN filter for that, but I'm wondering if I have a list in a measure, could I use that list for the slicer?
