Dynamic Text Never Works

I have had nothing but constant issues with this dynamic text, no matter what I do I had had NO success with it over the years.

Here, a simple measure returning a simple piece of text will not work.

I have a card in the image showing that its returning something, but typing in MANY different options of how to get the measure in there does nothing. At this point it would take less time to print it out, write it on there, scan it in, then email a PDF lol

@Bahalzamon , Based on what I got. I am able to add a text measure in the text box. For the first few seconds it was not suggesting, I used @ first and then removed @ and used correct measure it did display that and allowed me to select that

What is the @ thing you are mentioning? Does typing that in trigger something like a refresh?
