Does Format String Expression support Custom Visual?

Dear all,

As the title, I am trying to test out the 'Format String Expression' via the Tabular Editor.

I found that the Format String Expression supports most of the Power BI native visuals, however, it doesn't support the custom visuals. (Meaning the custom visual can't automatically identify the format string from the 'Format String Expression')

Is it a known limitation now? Is Microsoft planning to open the Format String Expression to support custom visuals soon?
