Directquery which one best sql statement or load into metadata

I have sql server database.
i am connect DirectQuery
without advance option my database metadata loaded
2.i am selwct advance option i am writing sql query.

my question which one best.
using sql query(advance option) or load metadata data base.

plase anybody expert. give me good solution

which senior which one best.

plase anybody explain full derails.

If you know which columns or rows you will need to use in report, you can write SQL statement to import data to Power BI Desktop, this way, it will save you same time for handling data in Power BI Desktop and can reduce your data model, which will improve performance of your report in some extent.

However, if you are not sure which columns or rows you need, you can directly load all the metadata into Power BI Desktop without writing SQL query.
